My name is Sirrý (full name: Sigríður Sæunn Sigurðardóttir). I recently graduated with a PhD degree in linguistics from Yale University. My dissertation was on Language Forecasting, involving predictions about the distribution of selected linguistic variants in Icelandic in the future.

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Iceland. My project is titled Conceptualization of weather in medieval Icelandic texts.

RESEARCH

I have wide-ranging interests within linguistics, philology and medieval Icelandic literature, including historical linguistics, language change, manuscript studies, syntax, pragmatics, speech act theory and information structure.

Topics that I am currently working on include mechanisms of language change, the syntax and semantics of weather verbs, weather descriptions in medieval Icelandic literary texts, anticausative strategies in the history of Icelandic, and deviations from verb second (V2) in Icelandic.

The languages that I work mostly on are Old and Modern Icelandic.
